Language Accessibility

Studievereniging B.I.L. employs Dutch as its primary language, as our bachelor's program is predominantly conducted in Dutch, aligning with the language preference of the majority of our members. This choice enables us to establish an effective and inclusive communication foundation that is accessible to the majority of our association.

Nevertheless, we emphasize the value of inclusivity within our association. We regularly organize activities where language is not a fixed barrier, such as parties and informal gatherings. In these situations, everyone is welcome regardless of language, and we encourage members to communicate in the language they feel most comfortable with. Indeed, the language spoken at a party in a club matters little, but it may be different for a lecture.

For our master's students, who may be following an English-language curriculum, we organize specific activities in English. This ensures that they can fully participate in our association and have the same opportunities as their fellow members. The events page indicates the language accessibility of each activity, specifying whether it is open to English speakers or is in Dutch or English exclusively. Additionally, each Instagram post uses the second page for an English version as needed.

The combination of a Dutch-language foundation and flexibility in language usage during various activities allows Studievereniging B.I.L. to meet the needs of both the majority of its members and those of individuals with different language backgrounds.
